Álvaro de Palma Jorge

Founding partner of Palma Guedes Advogados, active on constitutional and administrative law advice. Former capital partner at BM&A Advogados, where he led the administrative and environmental law practices. Former head of litigation of the National Supplemental Healthcare Agency - ANS. Widely experienced in public law especially in infrastructure-related aspects, having worked in projects, concessions and major events in Brazil. Álvaro also advises clients on public-private projects, crisis management and relationship with the press and with control agencies. Former Chairperson of the American Chamber of Commerce Infrastructure Committee. Some of the most visible projects he worked on were the Panamerican Games, the legal organization of the 2014 FIFA World Soccer Cup and of the 2019 Copa América Soccer Championship. He is an active arbitrator in cases involving different aspects of public law.

Founding Professor at FGV-Rio and former undergraduate professor at UFRJ. Álvaro is an active speaker and mediator in several national and international events. Author of the book ‘Supreme Interest’ (2020), associate editor of FGV-Rio's Administrative Law Review (RDA) in which he has published several articles.
